Huawei MatePad Pro has very few rivals in the Android tablet village and Chrome OS, its only rival in the market is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 – one of the best Android tablets to date. However, the real target to beat is Apple, but it has many difficulties due to the US embargo.

Huawei MatePad Pro has a large screen design, metal body, feels like a high-end tablet. It’s 10g lighter than the 2020 iPad Pro (11-inch), and weight distribution is quite even. The product has four different colors. While the Forest Green and Orange colors come with a leather back, the Midnight Gray and Pearl White models use a fiberglass back with an aluminum frame.

The MatePad Pro is powered by Huawei’s custom Kirin 990 processor, combined with dual NPU and 6GB RAM for the standard version (8GB for 5G models). Huawei’s flagship chipset offers a pretty impressive experience with smooth visuals, good RAM management, and a problem-free 3D gaming experience.

MatePad Pro supports control with M-Pencil and Smart Magnetic Keyboard keyboard. This Bluetooth stylus is capable of fairly precise control and is comfortable to hold, but you must purchase this device separately. The M-Pencil can magnetically connect to the tablet’s top edge, a place to charge this pen.

MatePad Pro’s biggest drawback was in software. The lack of Google services and apps will certainly make this device difficult to be accepted by users in markets outside of China. Perhaps success will come easily if in the future, Huawei’s AppGallery app store is more optimized.
